Welcome to My World

Hi. My name is Amor. I am an avid observer of people and I try to take lessons from them. These posts are my musings from watching our fellowmen while I take the jeepney, the Filipino mass transport commute.

This blog is for you out there who are like me: curious, questioning, and open-minded. Take a view of people and the world from my perspective. If only for a few moments, let's watch together. Maybe we could come to some agreement.

Take heed. The posts will be provocative. And unless stated, they will be my opinions, because yes, I am opinionated. Hopefully you will find some that you like. Feel free to express yourself. No apologies necessary.

The Pacman Wins... Again

His eighth world title. In eight weight classes.  Incredible! The man is the Pacman.  Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines shows the world that David and Goliath was a true story.  And yes, David won the day.  And how.

That fight should have been stopped in the ninth round.  Or in the tenth, at the latest.  Antonio Margarito was a wounded soldier who pressed on, expecting perhaps the miracle of a knockout.  But how could he touch Manny, the man who has truly lived up to the nickname Pacman, and who is perhaps the fastest boxer the world has ever known?

This was just another day at the office for the fighting congressman of Sarangani.  But it was another day to remember for the millions of Filipinos who stayed glued to their TVs all day, (and who searched the net for free live streaming of the fight) all proud to be Pinoy.

How my father, who died just four months back, would have loved to see this fight.  He was a boxer in his youth, and he passed on to me his love of the sport.  This was a fight worth talking about, and being his eldest child, it was I who talked boxing with him.  How I would have loved that discussion.

So congrats, Manny!  You are the best.  Now you can rest on your laurels.  Who needs Mayweather?
